Introduction

Once Gala sold it's UK casinos, Grosvenor G Casino in Aberdeen became the go-to location for playing in the city with it's main competition now coming from the ex-Gala casino now re-named the Rainbow Casino. The casino advertises itself as "more than just a Casino"- a rather obvious slogan for any casino with a restaurant and bar to be honest but nonetheless, one which has been adopted by most G Casino locations now. It offers the usual comprehensive selection of card games and slot machines along with decent dining options and a nice bar area.

The opening hours of this casino are a bit different to what you might be used to at other G casinos. The opening hours stated are 24 hours a day, seven days a week but this only applies to the electronic gambling. Slots and electronic roulette machines run all the way through the night but if you want to play any of the table games you will have to visit the casino between 12pm and 6am.

Gambling Floor

The gambling floor of the Grosvenor G Aberdeen Casino is not the most extensive around but it more than does the job for your standard gambler. If you walk in to the building you will be welcomed by Blackjack tables, 3-Card Poker, Roulette and a wide range of slot machines.

These machines host some of the most popular slot games currently on the market but not necessarily the lates. Last visit, I saw the good old Cleopatra slot and Novomatic Gaminator multi-game machines running games like Book Of Ra and Lucky Lady's Charm with 20k jackpots, games which incidentally are also available in Grosvenor's online casino with bigger jackpots (and a much bigger range of bet sizes!). In keeping with the standard UK casino licence, there are 20 slot machines on offer.

If you are after a bit of Poker action then this casino is the place for you to visit. Like a lot of UK casinos these days, there is a dedicated poker room for its guests and regular tournaments, Aberdeen's G Casino is a good option for poker players.

Restaurants, Bars and Leisure

For some unfathomable reason I never really regarded Aberdeen as the home of great chefs but thankfully the Grosvenor G casino has given me pause for thought! With the Grosvenor Grill restaurant it is quite easy to find a great meal there these days. By this name alone it is quite easy to guess what type of food is on offer for gamblers. Sirloin steak, rib eye steak and fillet stake are used handsomely to create some of the best grilled dishes that you will find south of London. One of the nicer features of the restaurant is the other grilled dishes on offer - including grilled Sea Bass, Salmon and Pork. These dishes are complimented by a few curries, and vegetarian dishes to make it a very comprehensive menu.

One of my favourite areas of this casino is the casino bar - a place where gamblers can relax and cool down after a long day of gambling. Some people might just need a break and with its great selection of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits there are few better places to go for a drink than the Casino bar. Sports is a big part of what this casino has to offer - and this can be clearly seen when you go to the bar area. Huge screens display some of the latest and most exciting sporting events from all over the world, live. Sit down here for a nice break from the bustling and vibrant gambling floor or to cheer your favourite team or club to victory.

Tournaments, Events and Promotions

Singing seems to be the main piece of entertainment if you go to the G Casino in Aberdeen. If you have a look at their website for upcoming events you will see that every week there is a new vocalist taking the stage to entertain and wow the crowd. The problem with this (if you look at it the same way as I do) is that they neglect all the other amazing events that could be planned. Promotions are also put on the backburner - or at least they are not that well promoted - because of it.

Coming up to the last few months before Christmas it is always worth having a look on the Grosvenor G Aberdeen website for special seasonal offers. This year you can get the Christmas package for a whole month running up to Christmas - with a three-course meal, a £5 free bet, gaming tuition and Live entertainment on weekends. But make sure that you book a table soon as the seats are limited.

The large Poker section of the casino does make for some great Poker tournaments. Some of the buy-ins go all the way up to £200, while others are free to enter for all players. Our favourite one is the £1000 guaranteed with not a single coin spent on the buy-in. For more information on upcoming Poker tournaments we recommend the Grosvenor G Aberdeen website.

Why Grosvenor G Casino Aberdeen?

Leaving aside the fact that it is one of only two Aberdeen casinos currently open, the Grosvenor G Casino is a venue that offers a good selection of most basic things a gambler wants. The food and drink options allows gamblers to make a full night out of visiting the casino. The food is well worth mentioning again as it is one of the highlights at the casino in my opinion.

G Casino is a good venue for poker players, even from outside the Aberdeen area it is worth travelling to but also, being in an accessible location in Aberdeen and with a lack of competitors in the area, it's a no-brainer really.
