Introduction

The Genting Club Star City in Birmingham might not be the most accessible casino in the UK - but it is one of the few venues that has an exterior which would make you think that you are on the Strip in Las Vegas, even if for just a second. The massive Genting sign above the entrance is one of the biggest I have seen outside a casino and with a bunch of lights and a tower sticking up it is really an impressive sight.

But like I said, you will not be walking around the streets of Birmingham City Centre and accidentally stumble upon this casino. It is located just off the M6 motorway, at the Star City shopping and entertainment centre. Your best bet if you want to go here is to get here by car. There is a whole heap of available parking spaces throughout the day and night. There are busses that stop at the Star City terminus, taking you to and from the city on a regular basis. The casino itself is open seven days a week from 12 noon until 6am.

Gambling Floor

With such a huge building you would think that the interior of the casino is just as impressive. Well, if you did - you are right. Once you hit the gambling floor you will see a whole bunch of tables lined up across the gambling floor with a seemingly endless amount of gamblers trying their luck.

The casino currently offers 12 American Roulette tables, more than most other casinos around the UK. Blackjack lovers will find four tables to satisfy their needs, with stakes going up to £1,000. Four Three Card Poker tables is not something very common and despite the stakes only reaching £50 it is a pleasant sight.

There is a single table for Baccarat, one for Dice and the not-so-common game Big Six.

If you like to play electronic games then you should really try the Electronic Roulette tables. There are a whopping 44 machines available and you can bet as little as £0.10 or as much as £100. Slot machines are spread out all across the gambling floor. You will find four FOBT machines, Super V+ Gaminator machines, Novomatic slots and Fort Knox. If you are looking for Poker action then this is the place for you. There are cash games and tournaments on a regular basis available at the Club.

Restaurants, Bars and Leisure

The Fahrenheit restaurant at the Genting Club in Birmingham is an excellent dining option in an area which mainly offers fast food. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a nice amount of space. The waiters and the staff in general are well versed when it comes to the menu and the wines, making it a very pleasant dining experience. With the highly popular and famous Fahrenheit brand, the restaurant offers some great dining possibilities.

With a brand new menu I cannot give an opinion on what the food is like now, but I know that it used to be excellent. If I use some common sense and the power of deduction I reckon that it has not changed all that much in terms of quality either.

The Late Bar at the Genting Club in Birmingham is an excellent place to head for a drink. They have an excellent selection of wines, beers, cocktails, champagnes and spirits. With a decent amount of seating available it is a great place to relax after a long day at work, to start off your night or to take a break from a long day of gambling. If you are feeling peckish and do not want a full meal from the restaurant then the Graze & Play menu is the thing for you.

Ordering from the bar, you will have a selection of smaller dishes and snacks that can be easily carried around the casino. The bar is open from 12 noon until 5.30am.

Tournaments, Events and Promotions

This year the Genting Club in Birmingham celebrated its 10th anniversary with an array of special offers and promotions. If you were lucky enough to visit the casino during this time you might not find the following paragraphs extremely impressive - but any casino lover will know that there are some good things going on at this venue.

Like most other Genting establishments promotions are bound to the Genting Rewards Scheme. Make sure that you sign up as soon as possible to collect reward points and be eligible for some of the most exciting promotions on the UK casino scene. There are weekly and monthly promotions at the casino, including bonus points on bets on certain games. Many of the promotions are linked to food and drinks as well.

One running promotion is where you buy a three-course meal at the restaurant and you get a complimentary £10 bet on a table game.

Events and entertainment include tribute acts and performances by local artists looking to show off their talents. Poker lovers will rejoice in seeing a fairly extensive selection of tournaments. There is at least one event on a daily basis, with buy-ins starting at £10 and going up to £40. The guaranteed money for these tournaments is always good, hitting £2,000 on some nights. For the full tournament schedule you should visit the casino's website.
